

Raymong King, Loving husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, neighbor and friend, passed away on May 24, 2016. Born December 31, 1932 in Alexandria, Virginia to the late George Raymond King and his late wife Helen Lelia Finch. Raymond served in the United States Army as Staff Sargent from 1952 to 1955, and was assigned to the Army Security Office as high-speed radio operator. He was honorably discharged receiving medals for Good Conduct and the National Defense Service Medal. He continued his service becoming an Arlington County Virginia Police Officer in 1957. Beginning as a Patrol Officer, through the years, his expanding career, and exemplary service, led to promotions and assignments as a Detective in the divisions of Vice, Narcotics Enforcement, Robbery, Homicide, and Major Crime Investigations. After 26 years he retired as Sargent of the Robbery Homicide Division in 1983. Earning the respect of his peers, he was one of the most loved and respected Officers of the Department during his tenure. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Jane King, three children, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, an his beloved brother Shirl King of N.C. Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 31, 2016 from 1pm to 2pm with a Funeral service to Follow at 2pm, Arrangements under the direction of Manasota Memorial Park and Funeral Home 1221 53rd Avenue East,, Bradenton, FL.
