John was born in Holland to the late Henry and Theresa Lijzenga. He proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam era. John was a mechanic for the Hampton Township Road for many years, retiring in 2008. He was also a butcher and former owner of Henry’s Market. John did tree work in the community for many years; he was always fixing something. John was best known for playing baseball for the Branchville Bombers.
John is survived by his children, John C. Lyzenga and Alicia Serignese and husband, Nick; his brothers, Teddy Lyzenga and wife, Miyoung, Rich Lyzenga and wife, Sue, and Henry Lyzenga and wife, Sandy; his sister, Jean Delauro and husband Carmine; and his granddaughter, Hannah and one grandchild on the way.
A memorial visitation will be held on from 5 pm to 8 pm on Monday, April 1, 2024 at Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main St, Branchville, NJ.
