Linda Louise Hendrixson

Born on November 4, 1939, in Carlstadt, New Jersey, Linda was the daughter of the late Leonard and Jean (nee Snook) Chamberlain. Her family later returned to the Snook Farm in Frankford Township, and she lived in the Branchville area throughout her life.

Linda married Roger Hendrixson in 1957 after both graduating from Newton High School, where she was a cheerleader and he played football. Together they built a life centered on family and shared passions for gardening, bird-watching, and traveling the United States and Canada.

Linda earned her Master’s degree in 1984 and her Doctorate in 1996 from New York University in Health Education and Human Sexuality. She co-authored college textbooks and numerous academic articles while serving as a professor at East Stroudsburg University, Montclair State University, and Upsala College.

A dedicated advocate for her community, Linda helped establish the Newton Planned Parenthood Health Center and The Women’s Center of Sussex County. She also served on the boards of the Sussex County Department of Health, Hampton Township Board of Health, and Sussex County HIV/AIDS Advisory Committee. Her commitment to service extended to countless volunteer roles throughout Sussex County.

A lover of classical music, Linda sang with the Masterwork Chorus, performing renowned works such as Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Mass in B Minor, and Brahms Requiem. In retirement, she found joy in reading, writing, crossword puzzles, and spending time with family.

She is survived by her three children: Kathy Milici (Santo), Roger Hendrixson Jr. (Elizabeth), and Karyn Greenstreet (Alastair); as well as grandchildren Ryan and Alyssa. She was predeceased by her husband Roger Hendrixson Sr., sister Barbara Garris, and brother Martin Chamberlain.
