Richard was born and raised in Neuhausen, Germany. He moved to the United States in 1953 and was drafted into the US Army where he served as a rifleman during the Korean Conflict. Richard was a self-employed carpenter and cabinetmaker owning Modern Wood Art in Sussex County for 80 years. He took great pride in quality craftsmanship and designed cabinetry for many Sussex County homes.
Richard was a member of the Sandyston Township Vol. Fire Department, during this time he drove a blaze orange and black Jeep Grand Cherokee and would respond to calls with his CB Handle “Red Baron.” His family was always his top priority. Richard would often engage in family fishing and camping trips, as well as Sunday drives through Sussex County or Upstate NY that always ended in a family dinner.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Josefine (Batzil) Herrmann. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jutta Herrmann; his daughter, Ute Woodworth and husband, Tim; his son, Uwe Herrmann; and his grandson, Zachary Herrmann.
