Bryan Laverne Roofe

Bryan was born on March 17, 1930 in Marmaduke, Arkansas. While a teenager, Bryan relocated to Brentwood, California and while working full time and living on his own, he attended and graduated from Liberty High School. He married Geneva Dryden on January 27, 1951. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. Bryan retired from the Liberty Union School District after having worked his way up from Custodian to Director of Maintenance and Operations. Bryan was involved in the Brentwood Lions Club for many years and also served on the Brentwood Recreation and Park District Board of Directors for 13 years. Bryan had a work ethic that was well known to the community and there are many homes and gardens that have benefited from his skills. There wasn't much he couldn't fix. He will be greatly missed by many people.

Bryan is survived by his sister-in-law, Lorace Dryden of Yorba Linda who has been his primary caretaker for the last several years; sister Bernice Trucks of San Jose; his niece Valarie Windle and great-nephew, Eric Ziminsky of New Castle, DE; niece Audrea Ellis of Chico, great-nieces Nikole Heindell, Krista Russell, and Alexis Daniel whom he never had the opportunity to meet, as well as other extended family. He is predeceased by his wife, Geneva, parents, Charles and Opal (Hudson) Roofe, sisters Jean Reynolds and Leatha Stanwich and brother Lee Charles Roofe.

The family wishes to thank Jane Valdez for her loving attention and care, as well as neighbors Bill and Sue Standridge for their friendship and assistance, also Sutter Home Hospice and Spyglass Residential Care.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 3-5 p.m. at the Brentwood Funeral Home, 839 First St., Brentwood, and a graveside service, with Veterans Honors, on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 11 a.m.at Union Cemetery, 11545 Brentwood Blvd., Brentwood, CA.
