On Friday, February 18, 2022 at the age of 88, Carol Alice Korby died of complications of a sudden stroke. She had been struggling with COPD and memory issues for the past few years. She never lost her sense of humor and love for her family and her Lord Jesus Christ. Carol was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 9, 1934 to Helen and Martin Mussa. She survived polio around the age of 12. She said she would have been taller had she not had polio! She met the tall, handsome Arthur Korby at a dance. They married on June 19, 1954. They raised three sons, Randall, Christopher, and Joshua. After she became a Christian around 1973, her passion was sharing the good news about Jesus. Carol and Art first served with Transport for Christ and were Chaplains for Association of Christian Truckers sharing the Gospel with Truck Drivers. Carol, Art, and Joshua moved to Bethel Island from Milwaukee in 1989. (Chris moved out later.) Carol was also active in teaching Ladies Bible Studies and was the liaison between Golden Hills Community Church and Options Health which encourages pregnant women to choose life. She also worked providing respite care for babies and young children being cared for by foster parents. She enjoyed having her grandson, John, spend time with her at her home. Carol was a great cook and had the gift of hospitality. Carol enjoyed her dogs, which included dachshunds, pugs, and a Boston Terrier. Carol and Art enjoyed family vacations, camping, cruises and sightseeing. They enjoyed camping trips with Campers for Christ, Christian Retreats and outings with their Bible Study Groups. They were active in the Primetimers group at Golden Hills Community Church. Carol wrote a book “Rescue in Mount Shasta Forest” which was about her son Joshua’s nearly fatal ATV accident in 2007. Carol is survived by sons Randall (Elaine), Christopher, Joshua (Natalie) and grandson, John. She is also survived by four nieces Kathy, Sandy, Renee, Heidi and their families. Her sister, Sally (Jerry) and her husband, Arthur, had already gone to heaven ahead of her. She will be missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to OptionsHealth. Information on how to donate is available at OptionsHealth.org
