To the family of my friend Chuck Richards;  I Paul Rice having grown up in Brentwood knew who Chuck was. I didn't know that much later in life Chuck would become a precious friend.  During a difficult time in my life, Chuck was a great help.  He also helped me get a job.  We worked together as a team, Chuck was a team player.  During the tough times Chuck encouraged me and helped me hold my head up high again.  He also would encourage kids at the school he worked at to stay away from drugs and to try to do well in school.  We loved watching football,fishing, and cooking together.  He was thrilled when I bought him a new rod & reel, I had to get him something because he was always giving me things.  Those things are more near and dear to me. Chuck was not perfect as none of us are.  The Holy Word of God commands us to confess our faults and weaknesses to one another and Chuck would do that.  Chuck was honest about his mistakes in life and I know he did his best to overcome those and learn from them,he encouraged others not to make the same mistakes. I saw what God calls a virtuous man, not perfect but, doing his best.  Chuck would tell me "Paul, none of us are perfect, but if we do our best that's all we can do".  As I coach kids in wrestling and encourage them to do their best, I will always think of my friend Chuck and how he would try to encourage kids as well.  I know this would make Chuck proud that he helped me to do my best once again. He gave me the most precious thing someone could have and that is a true friend.  I now live on a mountain in Montana and have planted trees in honor of friends that have gone on.  So in honor of Chuck who loved the mountains too, I have planted a Ponderosa Pine in his honor.  I will not forget you my friend!!

You were a lifetime friend and will miss you very much.

So sad to hear this news. Chuck was a wonderful person so kind hearted and always had a kind word to say to me and my son. He will be missed and remmebered as one of the biggest Raider fans. Prayers to his family.
