Ed and Lillian Wallin were great neighbors to our Meehan Family on 18th Street in San Francisco in the late 1940's and 1950's.  Their twin son and daughter, Johnny and Joanne, were constant companions to our group of same-age children in the old Eureka Valley neighborhood.  Ed once built a wooden playhouse beneath the backyard steps that connected the Wallin's flat with the flat above occupied by Ed's sister, Helen Vaughn, her husband "Blondie" -also a U.S. Navy vet - and their two daughters, Cindy and Holly.  The Wallin's took us on a visit to the then-active Hunter's Point Naval Base in San Francisco, and we toured Ed's submarine.  There was a later visit to the Navy's Oak Knoll base in the East Bay, which served as a medical facility..  The Wallin's provided lunch, along with ships' models for us kids to build, and ensured that a good time was had by all.  I have wonderful memories of Ed and Lillian Wallin, and I hope that their children, Johnny and Joanne, and their families are still enjoying good lives today.

You are in our thoughts and prayers that God will whisper peace to your heart and comfort you in your sorrow and loss.
