My sincerest condolences to the Mehrkens family. I had the greatest time hanging out with Rick during my high school days. Swimming at the “Mehrkens Manner”, Lakehead summer adventures and of course the Delta.

I can't believe its coming up on a year now that you have been gone.  I still think that you'll be coming through the door any minute.  I miss you beyond all measure.  The list of things that I miss about you is endless.  
I miss your smile
I miss your laugh and laughing with you.
I miss your sarcasm and your very dry sense of humor,
I miss sitting next to you in the truck and holding your hand,
I miss your sweet soothing voice on the other end of the phone.
I miss you always being right,
I miss your consideration, your thoughtfulness and your tenderness,
I miss the safe secure feeling I felt just knowing you were my friend,
I miss your perfect feet and your panoramic, mural sized toenails.
I miss watching you surf,
I miss you opening the car door for me.
I miss our Jet ski rides.
I miss the warmth of your arms around me.
Seriously, I could go on and on and on and on....  You were my rock, my safe place, my best friend and without a doubt the love of my life,  I am grateful that we met and were able to spend the past 11 years getting to know each other. I have to say, meeting you was the best thing that ever happened to me.  You brought a sense of calmness and well being and security into my life.  I will always love you to the moon and back my sweet Rick.



My deepest condolences to Rick's family and friends. May the many wonderful memories provide comfort to those grieing this terrible loss. He was such an amazing person and is missed dearly.

I miss my brother more than I thought possible.  He wasn't just my brother, he was my friend.  I could always go to him with questions and he would give me his honest opinion (good or bad). I knew him longer than anyone I've ever known. (since I took my first breath) and now I feel a terrible emptiness.  Rick was such a big part of my children's childhood memories of wake boarding, boating and hanging out on the houseboat. He was my "ski buddy" every summer, taking me out for my 5 minute ski rides whenever I wanted. He was the best big brother a girl could ever have, and I cant imagine my life without him. I know he is with our parents, and his best friend Rick "the fish man" Parrish.

Rick was one of my Best Friends, I will miss him forever. A lot of my work habits came from him. Working in the Paint shop with his brother Brad and him it was a treat to watch how he would go about his day of sanding parts and getting them ready for the painter. Working with him in construction was always a fun day at work. The many nights spent fishing for striped bass on Lake Mildred and Franks track were memories I will never forget. Even tho we did not see each other the last few years we would keep in touch by phone and I will miss that. His main love I believe were his two girls. He was so proud of them and was always bragging on them. They will carry on his legacy I believe. Even tho Carla and he were divorced I never ever heard him say a bad word about her.  
 My sincere condolences go out to his fiancee and friends and family.

Rick was a true gentleman , humble kind....would step tup to do anything for anyone.I lived many of my years by his side Boating . I will never forget  our Delta  Shasta days .  These will always be cherished moments.  We have many cherished memories I will hold forever,  Blessing to his girls wife and all that held him close to his heart.  Rest In Peace dear friend.  There Is lots and  lots of candy in heaven my friend.

I knew rick through my husband desmond.Rick was one of his best friends.they both loved the water.the sport of water skiing.that was there passion.just being outdoors.I am so sorry for your loss. When you think about Rick what comes to mind? Firstly his 2 lovely daughters and after that - the Delta, snapper, the Delta, watersking, the Delta, the houseboat, the Delta, windsurfing, the Delta... Rick was one with the Delta. I am glad you came into our lives and brought us 2 wonderful girls. You will be missed but never forgotten.
