Charles E. Winkler, Jr. 85 of Nashville died on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Creekside Assisted Living in Murfreesboro. Born on December 8, 1934 in Nashville, the son of Charles E. Winkler, Sr. and Ruby Hampton Winkler. He married Deanna McReynolds of Springfield, TN in April of 1963 and she survives. Also surviving are their three children, Charles Stephen Winkler, Deborah Lynn (Daniel J.) Knight, and Mark Edward Winkler; grandchildren Justin C. Winkler, Victoria C. Malone, and Caleb J. Malone; and step-grandchildren, Austin D. (Paula Helene) Knight and Daniel C. Knight.
Charles attended Tennessee Tech for two years prior to entering the US Air Force in 1957. During his active military time, he served in New Mexico and Korea prior to being discharged in 1961. He was later recalled back into active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After his time in the military, he returned to Nashville where he worked for various private businesses, and was a very skilled accountant spending 22 years with Oman Construction Company. From 1991-2005, he was an affiliate Broker with Century 21 Winecoff Realtors in Nashville.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2020 from one o’clock in the afternoon until two o’clock. A Celebration of Life will follow at two o’clock at Brentwood-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Springfield Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steve McReynolds, Graham Watts, John Riley Moore, Caleb Malone, Dan Knight, Daniel Knight, Mark Winkler, and Chip Winkler.
