

Jean Shearin Clements, age 87, born December 15, 1927 at Unionville, TN as the sixth child of Reverend and Mrs. Robert E. Reid, a highly respected Methodist “circuit riding” minister who served as many as four churches at one time, passed away on August 10, 2015 at Christian Care Center, Smyrna, TN suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. Preceded in death by her first husband, James Ed Shearin; and her second husband Capt. Daniel C. Clements.
She was a graduate of Martin Methodist College in the class of 1947 and is survived by her two children; son, David (Sandra) Shearin of Franklin; two granddaughters, Megan and Laura Grace and daughter, Dianne (Eric) Kantorik of Cane Ridge; grandson Seth and granddaughter, Hope. Mrs. Clements is also survived by two sisters and two brothers; Elwyn Flury of Knoxville, Clarice Nelson of Murfreesboro; brothers, Gerald Reid Fort Walton Beach, FL and William Reid of Nashville.
After resettling back in Nashville/Brentwood, TN from Murfreesboro, TN, Mrs. Clements performed clerical work on the staff of the United Methodist Publishing House, Vanderbilt University and various informal administration tasks at the Brentwood United Methodist Church. She then served as the secretary to United Methodist Nashville District Superintendents for 20 years.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at Brentwood United Methodist Church on Friday, August 14th at eleven o’clock in the morning, with gathering of family and friends on Thursday, at Brentwood-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home from four o’clock until eight o’clock and one hour prior the service on Friday at the church.
Jean will be interred at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Nashville, TN alongside her first husband. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the BUMC Robert I. Moore Sunday School.
