Kathleen W. Tanner

Passed away on 13 May , 2019

Kathleen W. Tanner, 96, died Monday, May 13, 2019, in Franklin, TN. Kathleen was born in Auburn, KY, daughter of Callie Elizabeth and Walter Henry Whitlow. She was preceded in death by Gerald, her husband of 54 years, sister Mary Elizabeth Mimms and brother Richard Whitlow. Kathleen worked at Castner-Knott in customer service from 1946 until she retired in 1987. She was a member at Crievewood Baptist Church. Kathleen loved being outside and spent many happy hours creating a beautiful yard. She enjoyed time at Old Hickory Lake, boating and fishing and barbequing with friends and family. Kathleen’s winning smile and loving ways made her a friend to many people. She was a beautiful person and one’s life was enriched by knowing her. Peggy Whitaker was her personal assistant and dear friend for the last 5 years of her life. The caregivers and medical staff at NHC Cool Springs gave her excellent care the last 3.5 years. Their consistent gentleness and caring made her happy there.

Kathleen is survived by a nephew and 5 great nieces and nephews, and her sister-in-law.

Visitation will be at Brentwood Funeral Home, Brentwood, TN on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 9:30am.

The funeral will follow at 11:00am.

Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Russellville, KY the same day at 3:00pm.

I am Phyllis Mimms, the mother of her nieces and nephews -Gerald,Marla,Michelle,Jason and John. Aunt Kat was a Bonus Grandma to my children . She was smart , loving,devoted and just plain funny ! We all adored her and will continue to honor and cherish the memories we have of her and Uncle Gerald. Stories will be told through generations so that they will be remembered !

I am Vickie Shaw , one of Kathleen’s caregivers, Kathleen was a funny, loving , compassionate, happy, and most of all thankful person who was always greatful for anyone who was there to help her. She told you too that she was thankful every day. It was my honor to be with her , learn from her , and be there for her .

I am her great niece. I remember all the wonderful times we had in the summer spending time with her at the lake , and spending Christmas at her house. Everything about her was special. This picture was taken back in 1992 when I graduated high school! She will be remembered by so many people for the impact she had on everyone who came in contact with her.
