Richard Austin Emerson

Richard Austin Emerson, born April 9, 1934 in Tiptonville, TN, passed to be with his Lord, August 22, 2014. He was born to Thomas Calvin Emerson and Thelma Atlanta Stubblefield Emerson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Thomas Calvin Emerson, Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Millicent K. Emerson, daughter Ann Emerson Harville (Randy Harville), son Richard “Rick” Austin Emerson (Melissa Champion-Emerson), granddaughters: Katherine Leigh Harville, Sawyer Millicent Emerson and Caroline Austin Harville , and sister Shirley McCord (Bob McCord). Richard served in the United States Army, and graduated from Murray State University, Murray, KY (1960). He spent 30 years in pharmaceutical sales with Lederle Laboratories. He loved life, his family, his God and the Vols. A gathering with family and friends will be held from twelve until three o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 6th of September, 2014 at Brenthaven Cumberland Presbyterian Church. A Celebration of Life Service, officiated by Pastor Kip Rush, will follow at three o’clock. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Brenthaven Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 516 Franklin Rd, Brentwood, TN 37027 or to Alive Hospice of Nashville, 1718 Patterson St. Nashville, TN 37203.
