Born in Brooksville, Florida on April 26, 1954, Elaine was the cherished daughter of Erbon "Buck" and Josephine "JoJo" Skinner.
Elaine spent her early life hunting and fishing with her parents, spending time with her cousins, and helping her mother JoJo cook her famous meals at Chinsegut Hill Manor. She graduated from Hernando High School in 1972, and after graduation moved to Texas and then Arizona. She moved back to Brooksville in 1983, wishing to raise her children here. She then began a long career as a Real Estate Title Closer where her warm personality resulted in many lifelong friendships.
She had deep pride in being a native Brooksvillian and it was evident in her vast knowledge of local history, always ready to share stories about the places and people of her cherished hometown. Her friendly and goodhearted nature meant she made friends everywhere she went— always eager to catch up, chat, and share a moment no matter what she was doing. People adored her no-filter conversations, never knowing what she might say next.
Elaine experienced joy in the often overlooked moments of life and made sure to share them with whoever was near—the soothing sound of rain on a tin roof, the beauty of a full moon, the rhythm of ocean waves, or the refreshing feel of a breeze. She found every sunset beautiful and would often watch them from the pier at Bayport. She also enjoyed a cold beer, music, dancing, a good grouper sandwich, and spending quality time with her family- especially her grandchildren. The way she told "Gram stories" of her adventures was legendary, bringing laughter and delight to her grandchildren and their friends.
Elaine leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory. She is survived by her devoted children, Tiffany Skinner (Thomas) and Danyell Braswell (Virgil); her grandchildren, Shavon and Justin Revell, Arreon Roberts, Michael Brown, Steven, Kailee, and Kevin Miller, Bodan, Emma, and Mika Braswell, and 2 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents, Erbon and Josephine Skinner and siblings, Marvine Frane, Benjamin McCoy, Geneva Bryant, and Robert “Bobby” McCoy.
Her presence will be deeply missed but the memories of her vibrant spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. We love you to the moon and back Gram.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00am-12:00pm, Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Merritt Funeral Home, 2 South Lemon Avenue, Brooksville FL 34601, where Funeral Services begin at 12:00pm, with Pastor David Hope officiating.
