Blake was a graduate of Hernando High School and the University of Florida. He spent the early days of his career living in various locations throughout the southeastern United States working long hours to consolidate and improve his family’s egg production operations for eventual sale. He was successful in those efforts, and as a result he was able to move back to Brooksville and manage his family’s cattle operations and real estate holdings.
Blake was always in motion, and his work ethic was unmatched. His daily habit was to leave home before sunrise and return after sunset. Blake would not suffer a wasted minute, following in his father’s footsteps he always said “It’s not work when you enjoy what you’re doing.” His dedication was not just about accomplishing goals but about setting a standard of perseverance, responsibility, and pride in all he did.
Blake was an accomplished hunter and outdoorsman. He treasured the fellowship he found with friends and family through time spent hosting dove hunts and hunting deer and turkey in Florida and Texas.
Blake was also an avid Florida Gators fan. He followed Florida football closely. Blake was a dedicated Gator “in all kinds of weather.”
First and foremost Blake was a devoted husband and father. His family was his greatest joy. He dedicated his life to ensuring they were protected and deeply loved. He guided them with his wisdom, integrity and unwavering resilience. Above all, he was a man of Christ.
Blake shared 27 blessed years of marriage with Kimberly Brown Hunnicutt (“Kim”), also of Brooksville. Together, they had two children, Haley and John Blakely (“JB”), who were the greatest gifts of his life, bringing purpose, laughter, and a love beyond measure. Blake and Kim dedicated their shared time together to instilling faith in God, unconditional love, and strong moral character in their children.
Blake is predeceased by his father, Homer E. Hunnicutt Jr. In addition to his beloved wife and children, he is survived by his mother, Nancy Harkness Hunnicutt; sister and brother-in-law, Holly Hunnicutt Green and Thomas “Pat” Green Jr.; sister, Melinda Gail Hunnicutt; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James Boyd Brown and Areen Brown of Wesley Chapel; mother-in-law, Martha Carol Brown of Brooksville; niece and nephews, Mary Julia Green, Patrick Green, and Lawson Hunnicutt, all of Brooksville; Kendall and Davis Brown of Ponte Vedra; and Emma, Bree, and Addy Brown of Wesley Chapel.
His celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, March 7th, 2025 at Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 200 Mt. Fair Ave, Brooksville, FL 34601, followed by a catered reception at Florida Cracker Kitchen's Party Barn.
