He was born September 14, 1942 in Dayton, Ohio and came to Brooksville 18 years ago. He was the City Manager for the Dayton Daily Newspaper for over 26 years. He was a VFW Auxiliary member and was Jehovah's Witness by faith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sherry S. Petry; son, Steven Petry of Dayton, Ohio; daughters and sons-in-law, Kim Petry Hohf & Donavan Hohf of Bradenton, Florida and Jennifer Petry Friedmann & Tim Friedmann of Dayton, Ohio; brothers, Russell Petry and Scott Petry; sisters, Sharon Petry Dohner and Deana Petry Doughman; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
