WOOD, Howard J., age 89 went to be with the Lord peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2014 after a courageous battle. Born in Perrysburg, OH he came to this area 18 years ago from Crystal River. He has lived in the state of Florida for 52 years. He was a successful Clearwater Business man, a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge, member of the VFW in Weeki Wachee and a US Army WW II Veteran. He is survived by his wife: Laura; sons: Ron & Chet; stepsons: Brad & Tod; daughters: Bonnie, Diane & Audrey; 12 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren & 2 step great great grandchildren. Visitation for friends will be 10 – 11am Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Merritt Funeral Home, Spring Hill Chapel where a Masonic Service will take place at 10:30am. A 3pm graveside service with Military Honors will then follow at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, Clearwater, FL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to HPH Hospice.
