James A. Champion, Sr.

CHAMPION, James A., Sr., age 81 of Spring Hill died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at HPH Hospice in Brooksville. Born in Thorsby, AL he came to this area 31 years ago from Gautier, MS. He was an electronic technician for the Aero Space Industry and devoted his life to the US Navy and his family. He is survived by his wife: Diane; sons: James, Jr. of Church Point, LA, Richard Davis of Norfork, VA & Michael Davis of Land O’Lakes, FL; daughters: Kathleen Elswick of Port Richey, Jennifer Aldana of Madisonville, LA & Terry Blake of Eddinton, ME; brother: Clyde Champion of Pensacola; sister: Nancy Cartwright of Amarillo, TX; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Visitation for friends will be 11am – 12pm Monday, May 23, 2011 at Merritt Funeral Home, Spring Hill Chapel and a funeral mass will be celebrated 12:30pm at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
