Lynn Morris Hurt

HURT, Lynn Morris, age 78 of Brooksville, Florida, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021.  He was born on June 16, 1943 to Claude and Nell Hurt in Bristol, TN-VA.  He moved to Florida in 1991, from Huntsville, Alabama to work for Sparton Electronics as a Quality Engineer, Engineering Manager, and later helped start Spartronics in Vietnam.

Lovingly known as Papa by many, he loved tinkering in his garage, working out in the yard, building things, and was especially enthusiastic about fishing and boating.  It was his joy to see those he loved happy.  Papa enjoyed sharing stories about his life and cute stories of his grandchildren with anyone who would listen!

Lynn was preceded in death by his son, Michael Christian Hurt, his sisters, Mary Nell Bays and Connie Shannon; sister-in-law: Frances Harley Gutnick and his brother-in-law, Erik Shannon.  He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Glenna Beth Harley Hurt;  daughters & sons-in-law:  Angela Cunningham of Myrtle Beach, SC, Suzanne & Gary Mechler, Jr. and Katie Beth & Taylor Bryant, all of Brooksville, FL; aunts: Nancy Arnold and Margaret Peek; cousins: Rusty Arnold and Nancy Arnold Sproles; brothers-in-law:  Jim Bays of St. Paul, VA, Fred Gutnick of Charlotte, NC, Dwight and Jan Harley of Pittsburg, PA, Vic and Deb Harley of Gastonia, NC, Donna Harley and Cliff Griffin of Bristol, TN and their families:   4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.  The family requests that you cherish those that you hold most dear, smile to those you meet, and remember the good times.
