

WEER, Ralph M., age 85 of Brooksville joined his Savior in glory on July 4, 2014. He was born in Philadelphia, PA and first met his future wife, Myrtle, in the tenth grade. They were both 1947 graduate of Council Rock High School in Newtown, PA. Ralph enlisted in the U.S. Navy and rose to the rank of third class petty officer while being a Russian language decoder. In 1949 Ralph and Myrtle were married at First Baptist Church of Newtown. Following their wedding, Ralph started an auto parts company with his father and later founded C.J. Auto Parts warehouse in Trenton, NJ. Ralph was called into the ministry and while working by day, he also traveled by train to take evening classes at the Philadelphia Bible College. Ralph became a church-planter with the FBHM home mission and took over a new work in Kendall Park, NJ. After years of labor, Kendall Park Baptist Church came to full support with over 100 members. Ralph was approached at this point about becoming the director of New Life Island Youth Camp near Frenchtown, NJ. He served in this capacity with his wife and family for 15 years. During this time period he was selected as the state representative for GARBC churches of New Jersey. In this position Ralph became a pastor’s pastor and aided pastors and churches who were in need. Furthermore, Ralph served on the Board of Trustees of Baptist Bible College in PA. After stepping down as camp director, Ralph and Myrtle served other churches as an interim pastor in both Florida and New York. Ralph and Myrtle moved to Brooksville 3 years ago from Seminole, FL and are members of Grace Tabernacle Independent Baptist Church of Brooksville. Along with his wife, Myrtle, he is survived by his sons: Thomas of Atlantic City, NJ and Steven of Lexington, NC; daughter: Judith Ann Cannon of Riverview, FL; brother: Robert Weer of Valperaso, IN; sister: Beatrice Kirby of So. Hampton, PA; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard. Visitation for friends will be 4 – 6pm, Wed., July 9, 2014 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am, Thur., July 10, 2014 at Grace Tabernacle Independent Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Weer officiating. Military honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
