

Barbara White Hill of St. Simons Island died on Saturday, February 12, 2022. She was born February 19, 1930, in Lithonia, Georgia and graduated from Lithonia High School in 1947. Following high school, she worked for the Singer Manufacturing Company in Atlanta, Georgia.
Barbara married Charles Herbert Hill of Conyers, Georgia on December 23, 1954. They moved to St. Simons Island in 1956 and quickly became active in the local community. Barbara and Charles were members of the St. Simons United Methodist Church for many years. Over the past sixty years, Barbara held many leadership positions in both the church and in United Methodist Women. She taught an adult Sunday School class for many years and participated in Stephen Ministries.
Barbara was a devoted homemaker, but always had time to read or play games with her daughters. She attended Brunswick Junior College and received an Associates of Arts degree. She was a former member of the Neptune Garden Club and loved sharing her camellias with friends and family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Charles and by her sister, Bonnie Stembridge.
She is survived by daughters Pam Anderson (Alan) of Tumwater, Washington and Peggy Dean of Aurora, Indiana. Barbara also is survived by five grandchildren: Nicholas Anderson of Seattle, Washington; Rebecca Dean (Deepak Krishnan) of Oakland, California; Jennifer Clark (Dustin) of Charlotte, North Carolina; Carolyn Anderson (Arjun Guha) of Wellesley, Massachusetts; and Harry Dean of Covington, Kentucky.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 20, 2022 at 3:00 pm at St. Simons United Methodist Church. A reception will follow.
