Bobby was born in Toombs County, Georgia on August 26th, 1935 to Ruby & Ernest Moye. As a boy, he developed Polio and had to learn to walk again. He was very strong-willed and honest with a great work ethic from an early age, pulp-wooding with his father and brother in McIntosh County as well as helping to build McIntosh's railroad infrastructure. After this, he enlisted in the Army during the Korean War, traveling Europe and serving as both a Military Policeman and a medic.
After the war ended, he came back to Georgia and moved to Brunswick, where he opened the area's first European-style health and beauty spa in the Brunswick Mall. He became a successful hair-dresser with multiple salons, most notably "Coiffures by Robert." He personally trained many of his employees in hair-dressing, and was called on to not only share his talents nationally, but even abroad such as in Italy. Hair-dressing was just the first of his long list of accomplishments as an entrepreneur; he owned a popular club known as "Chances R" on St. Simon's Island, along with many "package" stores within the Golden Isles.
His life-long love of fishing led him back to the water, and he became an incredible professional angler with literally hundreds of tournament wins under his belt. He often said that he decided to learn many of his skills simply to show that he could: he became a pilot of both small aircraft and helicopters, and then worked with the DNR where he personally wrestled alligators with his bare hands to capture them. He stayed very active, even late in to his life. Over the decades, he operated multiple marinas and shrimp boats, and then moved on from that to establish "R&R Construction," where he continued to work out in the field in to his 70s.
He was known to his family as someone who would jump at the chance to do anything for them, and it's impossible to understate how much he deeply loved each and every one of his children: Audi, Cindy, Chad, Misty and Zachary, all of whom but Audi survive him. In 2008, as he began to ease in to retirement, his life found new meaning with the birth of his beloved grand-daughter, Trezure. He was a loving and ever present in her life from its very beginning, and spent the overwhelming majority his days with her as she grew from a baby to a teenager. He considered himself fortunate to live long enough to know her and spend so much time with her. He did his best to teach those around him how to be independent and to never settle for less than what you want.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Frances Moye. Robert is also survived by his brother Jerry Moye and sisters Ruth Poppell and Tean Jackson. With Robert's passing, he reunites with his late brothers Curtis, Bunk and Marion, his sister Betty, and his oldest son, Audi.
Family will receive friends 1:30 p.m. till 3:00 p.m, Thursday, the 29th of April 2021 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Ave. in Brunswick, followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mark Linton officiating. Burial will follow at St. Andrews Cemetery in Darien, Georgia with military honors.
