It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bro Doug, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, who went home peacefully on May 21st, 2025. Doug leaves behind a legacy of kindness, unwavering support, and a remarkable ability to bring joy to everyone he meets.
Born in Gainesville Florida on July 26th, 1942, Doug grew up with boundless curiosity and a quick wit that would stay with him throughout his life. He was a man who truly embraced life, finding immense happiness in simple pleasures and enormous love for the great outdoors. Doug built a career in the car business, where he dedicated 30 years of his life. After a short retirement, he was called by GOD to become a pastor, where he continued to do so until he went home to be with our Lord.
Beyond his professional life, Doug was a pillar of his community and a devoted family man. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He was always ready with comforting words, a funny story, or a helping hand. His home was always a welcoming place, filled with laughter, good food, and the warmth of his presence.
Doug had a knack for making everyone feel special. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener and wood worker and he loved to share his passions with those around him.
Doug is survived by his loving wife Emily “Dee” Goode of 52 years, his 5 children Lisa Duncan-Wellens, Mark Fitzgerald (wife Debbie), Douglas Goode (wife Melany), Cristi Kavanaugh (husband Jamie) and Kimmee Rudisill (husband Steve).
