

Delores Secrist Johnson, aged 90, passed away on September 7, 2024, at her home in Sea Island, Georgia. Born on January 24,1934, in Millerstown, Pennsylvania. Delores was married for 69 years to (Jake) Miller Alanson Johnson II, whom she met in the third grade. She was a devoted mother to (Lanny) Miller Alanson Johnson III, (Kathy), Christopher R. Johnson, and Keith F. Johnson (Debbie). She was also a loving grandmother to four granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. Delores is also survived by her brother Raymond Secrist (Eileen). In addition to her family Delores is survived by her devoted companion JoePa, a rescue cat.
During her husband’s time in the Navy she lived in Newport, RI, Jacksonville, FL, and San Diego, CA. Then later she lived in Lancaster, PA, York PA and Sea Island, GA. While in York, she was a co-director of the York Hospital Fete where she helped raise thousands of dollars in support of the York Hospital.
Delores graduated from Lewisburg High School before continuing her education at Pennsylvania State University, where she distinguished herself by becoming a member of Phi Beta Kappa and The Women’s Music Honor Society. Her academic achievements were just the beginning of a life filled with active engagement and passion.
An avid golfer, Delores was a founding Member of Ocean Forest Golf Club and past president of the Sea Island Ladies Golf Association. Well into her late 80's, her competitive nature was on full display at Ocean Forest, the course she loved the most. She was also a member of The Sea Island Garden Club (Treasurer) and Skimmers. Her love for reading spanned her entire life, enriching her mind and spirit continually.
Delores was a faithful member of The Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder, circle leader and member of the choir.
