Born in 1924 in Norristown, Pennsylvania she graduated from Norristown High School and Harcum Junior College. Elaine lived in the Norristown area for all of her professional life, working as an executive administrative assistant for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Jacobs Aircraft, Germantown Academy, and others.
She retired with her husband, Freeland Cornish in the mid-1980s, and built a second home on Saint Simons Island, eventually leaving Pennsylvania to reside in Georgia full time. She was an avid golfer enjoying memberships at Plymouth Country Club and Manufacturers’ GCC in the Philadelphia area, as well as the Sea Island Golf Club in Georgia. She loved socializing, traveling and playing the piano. Elaine was known for her good sense of humor, and always had an amusing story to convey.
She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph W. Cook and Minnie Cassel Cook, as well as her loving brother and sister, Joseph W. Cook Jr. and Jean Cook Allsbrook. She is survived by her son, Bill Cordonna, daughter in-law Penny, and her two grandchildren - who brought great joy to her later years - Casey and Addison. She is also survived by her sister in-law, numerous cousins, nieces, a nephew, and step children, all of whom live dispersed throughout the country.
Memorial gifts may be made to a charity of your choice or to the Hospice of the Golden Isles, Inc. 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525.
