Emily Smith Owens

Emily was born in Griffin, Ga, daughter of the late Edward Lamar Smith and the late Susan Mathis Smith. She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. Emily was also a faithful member of Christ Church, Frederica and was involved in many activities affiliated with the church.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Lawrence Owens Jr. as well her sister Frances Lee Livingston.

She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Owens Parker of Henderson, NV and Ann K. Owens of St. Simons Island, Ga, and her son Joseph Lawrence Owens, III (Pete) and his wife Tina also of St. Simons Island, GA; Four grandsons, Joseph Alan Parker and Samuel Mathis Parker of Salt Lake City, UT and Joseph Lawrence Owens, IV (Josh) and William Taylor Owens of St. Simons Island, GA as well as several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles,1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, Ga. 31525.

The family will host a celebration of her life Monday from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at her home. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 1pm at Christ Church Frederica on St Simons Island.
