Frank Sweat Jr

Frank was a native of Tifton, Georgia and had been a resident of Georgia all his life. He was a graduate of Fitzgerald High School and attended Southern Tech and the University of Georgia. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation after 34 years in the Engineering and Administration Department and was a consultant for Chatham County for 13 years.

He was a member of the Georgia Dept of Transportation, Engineers Association, a member of the College Place United Methodist Church and held multiple offices in the Church.

Mr. Sweat was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Hilda Sweat, and a niece, Jennifer Evans.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sylvia Evans Sweat, a daughter, Sharon Bullard (Todd), grandchildren, Amanda Bullard and Rebecca Bullard, great grandson Evan Bullard all of Brunswick, a brother, Howell Sweat (Nancy) of Chipley, FL, two nephews, David Scott Sweat (Susan) and Randall Howell Sweat (Elizabeth) and several great nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 O'Clock Monday, August 29, 2011 in the Chapel of the Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with interment to follow in Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery in Brunswick. Rev. Rob Grotheer and Rev. Franklin Pierce will be officiating.

Active pallbearers will be: John Dills, Craig Brack, Russell Jacobs, W.S. (Bill) Smith, Joseph Ferrier and Ollie Lindell. The family will receive friends in the Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM Sunday night.

The family requests contributions to the Shrine’s Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC, 29605-4277 or the Ronald McDonald House.
