It was September 27, 2009. I was teaching a seven-day watercolor workshop for Rhodes Scholars at Epworth by the Sea in Saint Simons Island. It was the first time I met Miss Gail Lynn. A beautiful, young, intelligent lady. I said, “I may steal my student. Why not?” And Gail said “I’ll steal my teacher.” as well. So we began a new beautiful journey in our lives.
Gail graduated from Oglethorpe University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She was a member of the Oglethorpe University's president counsel for many years. Gail had been interested in art all her life. She studied the art of Chinese painting in Atlanta for many years. She worked at this art and became an established Chinese painter. She exhibited her artwork at the Atlanta Museum of Art. With her continued art interest, she took a trip to Asia for future study. Gail visited a few varying cities in China and Taiwan. Gail was very talented and a fast learner. Gail also exhibited her work at Brunswick, Georgia city library.
Gail also loved photography and was an excellent photographer. She sold many of her photos. I discovered that she had over 26,000 photos on her iPad. They were the pictures she captured over the many trips we took in the past few years. Gail loved to travel and explore new things. She would travel all over the United States with her job as the Vice President for Bank of America. The last state we visited together was North Dakota. We took a trip to the Northwest United States and discovered the 50th state to visit.
Gail with her interest in travel took her first cruise to the Bahamas with me. After that cruise, she fell in love with the cruising lifestyle. We took a month-long cruise over the Atlantic to the Mediterranean towards Barcelona, Spain. We also visited most European countries. We traveled through South America and enjoyed cruising eighteen times together. We enjoyed each and every one of them. “That’s a lot of memories.” Gail would say.
Gail, my wife, was a kind, brilliant, creative artist, and a wonderful partner. We had an incredibly lucky life together. We found each other and were so happy together. “With so many memories” I will miss her, but never forget her.
A gathering to celebrate Gail's life will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Avenue, Brunswick, Georgia 31520.
