

Funeral service will be held at 11 AM Monday September 10, 2012 at The Grace Place Primitive Baptist Church, corner of 2Nd and Treville Ave. in Brunswick, GA. with Elder Ron Scarboro officiating. Eulogy will be given by his son, J. C. Carter. Interment will follow the service in Roberts Cemetery in Nicholls, GA at 2:30 PM. Pallbearers include Sam Carter, Randy Cobb, Daniel Foisy, John Waters, Andy Ledford, Amos Odum and Jayson Cobb. Honorary pallbearers include Burl Howard, Dan Windell and Frank Peel.
Family will receive friends from 6 pm. – 8 pm. Sunday September 9, 2012 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
George was born to the late Hugh and Hilda Carter on November 6, 1923 in Nicholls, GA. He joined the Army at age 16, serving with the 532nd Engineers in the Battle of Leyte Gulf and the retaking of the Philippine Islands. He retired as a superintendent with Hayes Construction Company. He was a member of The Grace Place Primitive Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Florence Carter; a stepdaughter: Kathy Clarkson; a granddaughter; Jincey Carter; and two great grandchildren: Jenna Carter and Carley Carter.
Survivors include his wife, LaRee Carter of Jacksonville, FL; two sons, George Carter III (Susan) and J.C. Carter (Libby) both of Brunswick, GA; a step son, Dr. Bobby Deason (Lisa) of Jacksonville, FL; two grandchildren, Vickie Cobb (Randy) and Sam Carter (Cynthia) both of Brunswick, GA; three step grandchildren, Erin and Kyle Deason both of Jacksonville, FL and Tyler Clarkson of Eustis, FL; three great grandchildren, Jayson Cobb, Ian Carter and Aiden Carter all of Brunswick, GA; he is also survived by many other family members.
