Glennie Cody Gettinger, 90, of Brunswick, moved to her Heavenly home Saturday, December 31, 2022. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday, January 6, 2023 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Harold Hand and Johnny Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Palmetto Cemetery with Addison Cody, Joel Cody, Bob Thompson, Dustin Cathey, Dr. Robert Aderhold, Van Box and Jim DePratter serving as pallbearers.
Glennie was born May 10, 1932 to the late Elizabeth J. and Raiford Johnson. She was a resident of Glynn County for most of her life. She spent decades in the restaurant industry at Cody’s Restaurant and Western Sizzlin Steak House. She was a member of The Brunswick Church of God of Prophecy. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with family and her beloved dogs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Russell Lewis Cody, Sr. and George Gettinger, and two sons, Russell “Rusty” Lewis Cody, Jr., and Darrell Keith Cody.
She is survived by four grandchildren, Joel “Joey” D. Cody and Ashley of Brunswick, Shanna Cody Aderhold and Robert of Albany, GA, Derrick Cody of Brunswick, and Erica Cody Cathey and Dustin of Brunswick. She had seven great-grandchildren, Addison Cody, Dustin Cody, Brailee Cody, Glennie “G.G.” Aderhold, Alice Aderhold, Harriett Cathey, and Van Cathey, a daughter in law, Rita Cody Thompson of Brunswick, a niece, Terry Lynn DePratter of Brunswick, as well as several other nieces and nephews, her dog, Benjamin, and companion, Richard “Dickie Poo” Ratcliffe of Canada.
