

Gordon DeVon “Von” Williams, Jr., 69, of Waverly, departed this life, Monday, February 1, 2016 at St. Vincent’s Riverside in Jacksonville. Funeral mass will be held at 11AM Thursday, February 4, 2016 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Christopher Ortega. Entombment will follow at Brunswick Memorial Park Mausoleum. Chad Williams, Alan Williams, Nick Williams, Gary Williams, Scott Altman, and Josh Paske will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be all vendors and subs that Mr. Williams dealt with in his construction business.
Born December 13, 1946 in Douglas, Georgia to the late Gordon D. Williams Sr. and Ruby M. Williams, he was a graduate of Coffee County High Class of 1965. Mr. Williams was the owner of Gordon Williams Inc. a residential construction company. He had been a resident of Brunswick for 20 years and had resided in Waverly for the past 21 years. Mr. Williams was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, and Coastal Georgia Gun Club. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and his work. His family said he also “Enjoyed Taking The Scenic Route in Life”.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Nancy Williams of Waverly, two children, Chad Williams and wife Charlotte of Waverly, and Christy Altman and husband Scott of Waynesville, five grandchildren, Ashley, Lauren, Elianah, and Moriah Altman, and Jon Paul Williams, two great grandchildren, Lillianah Paske and Israel Paske, siblings, Ann Koch and Tess Bowles of Decatur, Alan Williams and wife Peggy of Douglas, Patricia Irving and husband George of Alpharetta, Tony Williams of Douglas, Lou Pierce and husband Mike of Douglas, Nick Williams and wife Margie of Pridgen, and Steve Williams and wife Paige of Douglas, many nieces and nephews.
