

Guy Mitchell Spivey, 91, of St. Simons Island, formerly of Hialeah, FL, died Friday, August 15, 2014 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home. Cryptside services will be held at 2PM Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Dr. Felix Haynes officiating. Born December 5, 1922 in Ellerbe, North Carolina to the late William and Daisy W. Spivey, he was a retired railroad foreman with Seaboard Coastline Railroad. Mr. Spivey was a US Navy Veteran of WWII, serving in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church in Ellerbe, NC. Mr. Spivey was an avid gardener and hunter and enjoyed bicycling around St. Simons Island. He had been a resident of Glynn County since 1984. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Gloria Spivey. Survivors include his wife Yvonne Spivey of St. Simons Island, a daughter, Carole Jean Humphrey and husband Stephen of Gainesville, FL, step children, Charles de Lagneau and wife Bonnie of Pembroke Pines, FL, Kathy Rich and husband Richard of Sunrise, FL, and Vivienne McLean of Pembroke Pines, FL, four grandchildren, Shawn Halliwell and wife Angie, Megan Humphrey, Andrea Amy and husband Joseph, and Nichole de Lagneau, four great grandchildren, a sister Mary Helen Capps of Ellerbre, NC, and several nieces and nephews.
