

Henry Odell Hughes, 80, of Brunswick, Georgia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on April 13, 2026. Born on June 18, 1945, in Augusta, Georgia, Henry lived a life marked by dedication to his family, faith, and community.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 60 years, Shirley Hughes; children Thurla Davis (Greg), Kelvin Hughes, Eric Hughes, Sr. (Nicole), Sharon Bligen (Wendell), Glen Hughes (Natalie), and Vincent Hughes, Sr.; grandchildren Adrian Johnson, Harold Johnson, III, Tracy Gross, Vincent Hughes, Jr., Briana Johnson, Maleigha Small, Mariah Hughes and Abigail Hughes; great-granddaughters Kayla Johnson, Janea Johnson and London Hughes; and great-grandson Eric Hughes, III. Henry is also survived by his sister Thurla Taylor and brother Gary Hughes. He was predeceased by his parents Odell and Thurla Hughes; siblings Horace Hughes, Marion Hughes and Gloria Hughes; his son Henry Aaron Hughes; grandson Eric Hughes, Jr.; granddaughter Mya Hughes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who he loved dearly.
Henry’s professional life reflected his industrious nature and commitment to hard work. He retired from Hercules Inc. Following retirement, he pursued his entrepreneurial spirit as the owner of Community Painting. His work ethic and determination were admired by all who knew him.
Henry was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on March 6, 1971 and served as a Congregation Elder in the Brunswick North Congregation. He found great joy in teaching others about the Bible and its promises for the future. His dedication to his faith was evident in every aspect of his life.
Henry’s personality left an indelible mark on those around him. Known for being personable and witty, he never met a stranger. His generosity and warmth made him well-known and admired within the community. Above all else, Henry was a devoted family man who found immense joy in spending time with his loved ones.

A Visitation will be held on April 24, 2026, from 05:00 PM to 08:00 PM at Edo Miller & Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Avenue, Brunswick, GA 31520. A Memorial Service will be held on April 25, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1270 Cate Road, Brunswick, GA 31525
