

Imogene (Jean) Fitzpatrick, 92, of Jacksonville ,FL, died Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Community Hospice of North East Florida in Fernandina . Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, March 7, 2015 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating. Interment will follow on Monday at Chapel Park Cemetery. She was born February 6, 1923 in Lindale GA to Luther and Pearl Cagle Naves. She was married to Harold (Fitz) Fitzpatrick June 26, 1941 and they were together for 65 years before his passing in 2006. Jean was a member of ILGWU, working at the Brunswick Mfg. Co. until her retirement in 1978. Following her retirement Jean was an active member of the American Heart Association; Georgia Diabetes Association and Council for Catholic Women at the St. Francis Xavier Parish in Brunswick, GA. She and Fitz were members of the YMCA and went to work out and swimming three times weekly. She was an avid walker, and she established the Wyndham Walkers at Wyndham Lakes in Jacksonville FL, where they enjoyed their retirement the last few years before his passing. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and won many trophies playing in the Brunswick Bowling leagues, and she loved taking her boys out fishing. Her family said she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.
Jean Fitzpatrick is survived by her five children: Tommy (Mary) Fitzpatrick of Fancy Gap VA, Charlie (Cathy) Fitzpatrick of Asheville, NC, Barry (Lisa) Fitzpatrick of Yulee, FL, Larry (Gale) Fitzpatrick of Yulee, FL and Jeanie (Mike) Gist of Marietta, GA. Ten grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, countless nieces and nephews. Her surviving sibling, Luther Naves, Jr. still resides in Lindale, GA.
