

Irene D. Nazzaro, 71, of St. Simons Island, went to be with our Lord during a very special time, namely the Easter Vigil, Saturday, April 7, 2012 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday, April 12, 2012 a St. William Catholic Church with Monsignor John Kenneally officiating. Interment will follow in Oglethorpe Cemetery.
Born September 17, 1940 in Jamaica, New York to the late Walter H. and Mary Teresa Drake, Mrs. Nazzaro was a homemaker and was a very spiritual, gracious and giving person. She had been a resident of St. Simons Island for the past 7 years and was a member of St. William Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister. A former resident of Monroe, Georgia, she was awarded the Unsung Hero Award by the Walton Tribune for her exceptional volunteer work. Mrs. Nazzaro enjoyed gardening and horses.
Survivors include her husband of over 51 years, Richard Nazzaro, a son, Richard T. Nazzaro, Jr. and fiancee Lynn Dudley all of St. Simons, two sisters, Ann Drake and Mary Meyer both of Babylon, NY.
