

James T. King (Jim), 77, of Brunswick Georgia, died Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Hospice of The Golden Isles. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, October 12, 2014 from 5PM until 7 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, October 13, 2014, in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, with Dr. Wright Culpepper officiating. Entombment will follow at Chapel Park Cemetery, with Pete Hopkins, Ed Quinn, Caleb King, Travis King, Jim King, and Tommy Fraser serving as pallbearers. Employees of Kings Colonial Ford, the Fraser family, Popham family, and the Fosnow family, Fred Tygart, and Chip Travis will serve as honorary pallbearers. Born February 24, 1937, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Harry B. and Sara Joe T. King. He was a US Army Veteran serving in the Korean conflict era. Mr. King graduated from high school in 1955 from Carlisle Military School, and attended the Citadel, South Georgia College, and The University of Virginia. He was a former vice president of Atlantic Bank in Jacksonville, and was the former owner of King’s Colonial Ford in Brunswick, which is now owned by his son Lee. Mr. King was a member of the Raccoon’s Club, which met once a month at Bennie’s Red Barn on St. Simons Island, and he was of the Methodist faith. After his retirement from the Ford Dealership, he spent much of his time in St. Augustine, where one of his favorite spots was The Tradewinds, where he enjoyed listening to local musicians. He also spent some of his time in the Brunswick area, where he owned a local antique booth with Doris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife’s daughter, Terry Fosnow. Survivors include his wife Doris Thomas of Brunswick, two sons and their families, Mark B. King and Kari Graves of Jesup, and Lee N. King and wife Traci of St. Simons Island, four grandchildren, Sarah W. King, Jason B. King, Caleb King, and Abby King, a brother Dr. Caleb J. King of Gainesville, FL, and his nephews Jim King of Jacksonville Beach, and Travis King of Atlanta, two canine companions, Emma Joe, and Phoebe Mae, and a feline companion, Princess.
