
Joan M. Lomis, 74, of Brunswick, died Tuesday, September 30, 2014 surrounded by her family at her son’s residence in St. Marys, Georgia. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Friday, October 3, 2014 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Jones officiating. Born February 5, 1940 in Greenock, Scotland to the late James and Elizabeth M. Pollock, she immigrated to the United States when she was 18 years old. She then married the late Norman R. Lomis and started a family with him. The Lomis family moved to Glynn County in 1970, and Joan worked as a typesetter for several local newspapers and printing companies. Mrs. Lomis enjoyed art, reading, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Scott Lomis. Survivors include a son, Jim Lomis and wife Tammy of St. Marys, five grandchildren, Chris Lomis, Jenni Lomis and husband David Davis, Mitch Lomis, Ben Allen, and Beth Allen, seven great grandchildren, Shelby, Camryn, Braxton, Paisley, Shawn, Haylie, and Gavyn, a twin sister, Kay Adamson and husband Robert of East Kilbride, Scotland, and a younger sister Norma Baxter and husband Robert of Paisley, Scotland, and an extensive Scottish family. The family will receive friends Friday morning, October 3, 2014 from 10AM until the funeral hour at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of The Golden Isles.
