Joseph "Joe" James Parker of Brunswick was called to his heavenly home unexpectedly from a heart attack, at the age of 59, on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick Hospital.
Joe was born in Brunswick Ga, the seventh child to Jean and Wright Parker. He graduated from Glynn Academy and was the Owner/Operator of Parker Termite & Pest Control. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where he served in many capacities throughout his life.
Joe was a loving father and loyal friend to so many. He never met a stranger and welcomed everyone to his table. He was well-known in the community for having a larger than life personality and willingness to help anyone in need. His family and friends remember him as the one you could count on when you needed a hand or a shoulder to lean on. Joe was an avid fisherman and loved spending time on the beach with his family and visiting with new and old friends at the Parker Cottage on St. Simons Island.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Gina Davis Parker; his parents, Jean and Wright Parker; and a sister, Kay Parker Green. Joe is survived by his daughters, Meagan Parker Penland (Austin) and Josie Parker Gupton (Max) of Charlotte; grandchildren, Pearl Rivers Penland (2), Jackson Wright Gupton (3), and Miller Gina Gupton (4 months). He is also survived by his devoted partner of over ten years, Yolanda Victoria Jones; and his siblings Ginger Boswell (Neal), Bill Parker (Tannis), Leila Brumit (Buck), Harry Parker and Terry True (Danny); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and Godchildren.
A private funeral Mass will be held for the Family on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 followed by a Graveside Service, for friends and family, at 10AM at Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery. Family and friends will also gather in Joe's memory on Tuesday from 6 to 7 pm in front of the Parker Cottage, 723 Oglethorpe Ave., St. Simons Island, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in his name.
