June Fulton Alexander went peacefully to her eternal home on November 19th. Born in Waco, Texas, on May 23, 1933, she lived in Maryland until she and her parents, Nathan Hart Fulton and Claire Rogers Fulton and two older brothers, Roger and David, moved to California, where she lived for forty years. June was predeceased by her parents and both brothers.
She met and knew Ruth and Billy Graham in California and worked in two of his campaigns. In college, she met and married William Koerner, with whom she had two sons, John and Ted. June and her family enjoyed vacationing in the High Sierras, camping, trout fishing and water skiing.
Having graduated college with highest honors, June taught American literature and composition to 11th and 12th grade Advanced Placement students, produced the yearbook for 18 years and was voted “Teacher of the Year” by her students. One summer, she took 16 of her students on an educational tour to 16 countries of Europe and northwest Africa for seven weeks. At the invitation of the Ambassador, she was a guest of the South Korean government to visit and evaluate their school system. June taught Sunday School with teenage girls in Glendale, CA. As a member of Oakmont Country Club and Mannequins in Glendale, she became a runway fashion model, fundraising for charities.
Fate brought June to St. Simons Island where she continued modeling at the Cloister on Sea Island during “High Tea” and at fundraising events for various charities and political events. She joined Newcomers, where she became president. In addition to enjoying travel, she enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends. June was an exquisite hostess and a gourmet cook.
In retirement, June became a professional proof reader/editor for local and West Coast writers and was a member of the Novel Ideas book club. At The Coastal College of Georgia she instigated and created the exclusive Veterans’ Lounge and raised donations for computers, seating, library, refreshments, appliances and inspiring military paintings.
June was a member of the Fort Frederica Presbyterian Church. She sang in her church choir, served three years on the Symphony Board of Directors, and the Historical Society Board.
June loved the theater and enjoyed traveling to Jacksonville with friends to see Broadway road shows. She became active in the Island Players Theater, where she met and married Air Force Lt. Colonel (Retired) and attorney Douglas Alexander, her husband for nearly 25 years. June and Doug have enjoyed a life of everlasting unconditional love. Besides being a beautiful woman, June was a beautiful person. She was generous, loving, kind and a friend to everyone she met.
On their nine-week honeymoon trip, they drove 14,000 miles across the U.S. and southern Canada, visiting family, friends, National Parks and took a week-long vacation in Hawaii. It was life with Doug that inspired her to compose music and lyrics for several love songs, their favorite being “Till There Was You.” They have maintained a bi-coastal lifestyle, traveling to California and often to Hawaii during the heat of Georgia summers.
June is survived by her husband, Doug, her two sons, John Koerner (Patty) and Ted Koerner, and her extended family of Doug’s four children and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews..

A memorial service to honor June's Life will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Fort Frederica Presbyterian Church on Saint Simons Island with Rev. Don Dilley and Danny Grace Officiating.
