Karl Edward Free

Karl Edward Free, 75, of Brunswick, GA, died Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Hospice of The Golden Isles. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Monday, October 4, 2010 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Bishop Charles Green officiating. Employees of the Hospice of the Golden Isles and GraceMore Nursing and Rehab will serve as honorary pallbearers Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery with Full Military Honors.

Born July 18, 1935 in Worth County, Georgia to Thomas Edgar and Irene Williams Free, he was retired from the US Air Force after 23 years of service and worked for the Department of Army at Ft. Stewart for 10 years retiring in January of 2004. He was a Valdosta State Alumni and a member of Ministry Center Church of God. Mr. Free was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Edgar Free, and a brother, Harold “Hal” Free.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Rosa Green Free of Brunswick, a son, Jaime Butts and wife Chassity of Palmyra, VA, a daughter, Karla Pefanis and husband Bill of St Simons Island, grandchildren, MiKayla Thomas, MiKenzi Thomas, Jacob Butts, Mallery Culpepper, Jayden Butts, Christian Pefanis, and Cari Pefanis, mother, Irene Free , a sister Betty Free both of Mt. Airy, NC, and several nieces and nephews.
