Katie was born and raised in Ohio where her childhood was filled with great memories such as riding on the back of her dad’s motorcycle, playing with her sisters, hiking Mohican Hill, and playing every sport she could. “Smoky” continued to play competitive softball and kickball; and had recently helped her competition kickball team to a championship.
Shortly after moving to Savannah in 2020, Katie met the love of her life, Sydnee King. Eventually moving to St. Mary’s, they spent long hours building in their backyard, riding Katie’s Harley, and making plans for the future. Disney and Universal trips had become a staple along with beach days at their beloved Amelia Island. Katie had launched her own business, “Flex Appeal Fitness and Nutrition”, with the dream of spreading her own brand of personal training far and wide. Her infectious enthusiasm offered a very personal touch to personal training, and she loved her clients as dear friends.
An adrenaline seeker, Katie lived life to the fullest. From snowmobiles to rollercoasters to bikes, from boogie boarding, to riding, to weight lifting - Katie did everything all out. She also channeled that adrenaline into tinkering on anything with an engine. Her dad refers to her as a “jack of all trades, master of all.” Her relentless optimism and smile led her to believe she could fix anything.
This loving, carefree spirit leaves behind a loving network of family and friends including; fiancé Sydnee (and their beloved dogs), father Chris (Erica), mother Candace Rau, siblings Mackenzie, Erin, Justin, Levi, and Sadie. Other Ohio family members include aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, and all the family that was blessed to know her. She also had the King family in Utah she loved dearly, and who loved her right back.
Rev that engine every once in a while Katie, Syd and Stella will be listening.
