
Kathy Ernestine Potter went to be with Jesus in the early morning of March 13, 2015. She was a native of Brunswick and had been employed by the Glynn County School System Transportation Department as a special needs bus driver for the past 9 years. She was a devoted member of The First United Pentecostal Church of Brunswick.
She is survived by her husband of 46 wonderful years, Ray Potter, Sr., and two children who were very dear to her, son Ray Potter, Jr. and his friend, Jennifer Day, and daughter Wendie Simko and husband, Nelson Simko as well as three grandsons who were very precious to her, Trevor Simko, Dyllan Simko, and Zach Potter and a sister, Karen Stalvey. She is also survived by four sister in laws and three brother in laws as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Buford and Christine Stalvey and a brother, Larry Stalvey. She is also proceeded in death by her father in law, Alvin E. Potter and mother in law, Elsie Potter, who treated her like their own daughter.
One of her most favorite hobbies was fishing on the Altamaha River, where she and her husband had a cabin that they both enjoyed a great deal. She also loved traveling. After she won the battle of lymphoma cancer of her kidney, she and her husband Ray, accomplished most of the bucket list places she wanted to travel until her health was unable to allow it. Kathy was a kind-hearted, loving, and very sweet woman who will be missed by everyone.
There will be a celebration of life service at The First United Pentecostal Church at 5608 New Jesup Highway in Brunswick on Saturday, March 21st at 4:00 pm with a dinner after the celebration. Family and friends are encouraged to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in her name to The First United Pentecostal Church Building Fund or to Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick.
