Kenneth Bruce Jones (Bruce), age 84, of St. Simons Island, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2025. Born on November 3, 1941, in Lexington, Kentucky, Bruce was the son of William Everett Jones and Katherine Webb Jones.
Bruce spent his early years in Lexington, attending Kenwick Elementary School and Lafayette Junior High School. His education continued at Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (grades 9–11), Northside High School in Atlanta, Georgia (12th grade), and Emory University, where he earned both his bachelor’s degree and MBA. He proudly served in the United States Navy and remained a deeply grateful and committed veteran throughout his life.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Bruce meant the world to those who knew him. He was known for his love of family, his commitment to faith and lifelong spiritual seeking, his sense of adventure, and his deep appreciation for the outdoors. In his later years, Bruce especially cherished fishing with his grandchildren, teaching and participating in Sunday school, playing pickleball, and enjoying weekly bike rides with his beloved group, “The Slow Spokes.”
Bruce’s love of the natural world was a constant throughout his life—from early years spent camping, backpacking, diving, and kayaking, to more recent days quietly bird- and wildlife-watching from his favorite back porch. He was a loving and supportive father, a loyal friend, and a peaceful, positive presence to so many.
If Bruce were here, he would likely say something like, “Raise a glass, do a good deed, and take care of each other.” In that spirit, the family invites all who knew him to live out the values Bruce modeled so well, in whatever way feels meaningful to them.
Bruce is survived by his daughters, Hillary Cooper and Julie Jones; his son-in-law, Jay Cooper; and his beloved grandchildren, Sam and Charlotte Cooper, and Pilar and Forrest Boulee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan, who passed away in April 2025 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.
A memorial for Bruce and Susan is scheduled for February 4, 2026 at 10:00 am. It will be held at Wesley Church at Frederica, 6520 Frederica Road, St. Simons Island, GA 31522.
Bruce’s loving presence, gentle spirit, and enduring example will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
