Linda Tharpe Tucker

Linda Tharpe Tucker, 73, of Darien, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at SGHS in Brunswick. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, June 8, 2013 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Rob McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow in Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery. Ron Edwards, Cecil Glenn, AD Poppell, Lamar Williamson, Larry Burnett and David Idleman will be severing pallbearers.

Born February 13, 1940 in Bibb County Georgia to the late George Tharpe and Beverly Newton , she was a teacher at the Georgia Academy for The Blind and Macon Bibb County Schools for 30 years. She was a Graduate of University of Florida, and was a past officer of Macon Bibb County Art Association. Mrs. Tucker was also a founding member and served in a number of positions of The McIntosh Art Association. She was a member of The Glynn County Art Association and was a past member of Jekyll Island Art Association. Mrs. Tucker was a member of Darien United Methodist Church, and had been a resident of McIntosh County Since 1998.

Survivors include her husband Kenneth Tucker, a son Scott Brightwell, and wife Megan, a grandson, Coleman Brightwell, a granddaughter, Eleanor Brightwell,, a sister Susan Grafton, and husband Thad ,and niece Beverly Nagle.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6PM until 8 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to The McIntosh Artist Association. A reception will be held at Darien United Methodist Church following the service.
