

Morris McCullough Pickens, Jr., age 27, beloved son of Morris McCullough Pickens, Sr. and Suzanne Carter Pickens, passed away on July 29, 2025. Born in Columbia, SC, on May 26, 1998, McCullough moved to St. Simons Island, GA in 2005 and attended school at Frederica Academy and graduated from Glynn Academy in 2016. He graduated from Augusta University as an Academic All-American in 2020.
Family and friends remember McCullough as thoughtful, insightful, and compassionate. He had tremendous loyalty for his family and friends. Having never met a stranger, McCullough was always willing to help those in need and loved to make people laugh. He had a reputation for being witty, charismatic, and an unbelievable storyteller. Friends describe him as a person who made people feel welcome with an infectious personality and a smile that could light up a room. As a son of two Clemson graduates, nothing made him happier than to cheer on his Clemson Tigers in Death Valley Stadium. He was an active member of Community Church and loved participating in his Tuesday morning Bible study. McCullough was strong in his faith and had a close relationship with the Lord. His presence will be missed everywhere.
In addition to his parents, McCullough is survived by his brother, Hugh Worthington Pickens; sisters, Suzanne Sellers Pickens and Jane Emerson Pickens; fiancée, Madison Brooke Carroll; maternal grandparents, Hugh and Sandra Carter; paternal grandparents, Barbara Pickens and Wesley Pickens (Patty); aunt and uncle Jan and Chris Marshall; cousins Mimi Marshall Collins (Jack) and Michael Christopher Marshall (Rebecca); aunt and uncle Kathryn and Penn Gaines; cousins Carter Pendleton Gaines, William Harrison Gaines, and Henry Banks Gaines; aunt and uncle Evelyn and Ley Pickens, cousins Alexandra Pickens Reynolds (Zach) and James Hunter Pickens (Amanda).
A service will be held at Community Church on St. Simons Island (2700 Frederica Road) at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 4, 2025. A reception will follow at the church.
