

Michael Francis Hennessy, Sr., 66, died on Saturday, April 11, 2015, on St. Simons Island, Georgia. He was born in Savannah to the late William F., Jr., and Mary Paul Hennessy. Michael served in Vietnam and retired from Georgia Army National Guard.
Michael was a communicant of St. William’s Catholic Church. He was a lector and member of the Hospitality Committee.
He was a member of Golden Isles Duplicate Bridge Club; American Legion; The Hibernian Society of Savannah, Georgia; Catholic Cemetery Committee; Chatham Artillery; Savannah Volunteer Guards; Catholic War Veterans , St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee and the Knights of Columbus.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, his brother Terence and son William Daniel. He is survived by his wife Penny Robertson Hennessy; daughters Katherine Hennessy Brown, Mary Elizabeth Hennessy Cogar, Ashley Norton Hutcheson; sons Michael Francis Hennessy, Jr.; Terence Paul Hennessy and Patrick Byrne Norton; his sister Mary Paul Hennessy Tuohy; and 10 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Mills, Keith Brown, Allen Hutcheson, Chris Cogar, Bo Fahs and Joseph Tuohy. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the American Legion and The Hibernian Society.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, Georgia. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at St. William’s Catholic Church, with Monsignor John Kenneally officiating. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
Burial will be on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 11 a.m., at the Catholic Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia. Burial will be followed by a gathering at 1 p.m., at Knights of Columbus #631 in Savannah, Georgia.
Donations in Michael’s memory may be made to Benedictine Military School, 6502 Seawright Drive, Savannah, Georgia.
