
Mildred Virginia Prentice, 98, of St. Simons Island, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at SGHS in Brunswick. Funeral services will be held 11AM Monday at First Baptist Church of St. Simons Island with Dr. Felix Haynes officiating. Interment will following in Oglethorpe Cemetery with Ernie Dewitt, Ron Euelenfield, Carol Martin, James A Prentice lll, John Martin Prentice, Ashley Parmerlee serving as pallbearers.
Born November 9, 1913 in Stergis, Kentucky to the late Lillard and Eula M. Brown, she was a homemaker raising four children. Mrs. Prentice had been a resident of Glynn County since 1943, and along with her husband were charter members of First Baptist Church of St. Simons Island. Mrs. Prentice was a former member of The Order of Eastern Star, and enjoyed quilting, knitting and daily bible study. She was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Andrew Prentice, Sr., a son, James A. Prentice, Jr. and two brothers, Jack Brown and Marion Brown.
Survivors include a son, John M. Prentice and wife Margaret of St. Simons Island, two daughters, Linda L. Worden and husband Dick of Ann Arbor, MI, and Barbara Lewis of St. Augustine, FL, 11 Grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, and two sisters, Doris Paperelli of Hershey, PA, and Lois Stevens of Leesburg, FL.
