

Myrtle (Granny) Choate, 99, of Brunswick, Ga., passed away Monday, October 5, 2015. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Revival Center Church of Jesus Christ , 5563 New Jesup Hwy., Brunswick, Ga., with Reverend Joel W. Longshore officiating. Interment will follow the service at Chapel Park Cemetery. Serving active pallbearer will be Justin Keyzer, Jeff Longshore, Keith Benton, Mark Hopper, Scott Corbitt, and James Jones. Honorary pallbearers are James Keyzer and Earnest Ramsey.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at
Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Choate was born November 26, 1915, in Talladega, Alabama to the late Baine Hayes , and the late Maebell Hayes, She had resided in Glynn County a good part of her life. Mrs. Choate was employed by Universal Laundry for many years, and the YWCA in child care. Mrs. Choate was the eldest member of the Revival Center Church of Jesus Christ, where she also played the piano. She enjoyed listening to Gospel music and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Wyley Ellis Choate, daughter Peggy Jean Smith, and son John Wyley Choate.
Survivors include Mrs. Choate’s daughter Shirley Gail Bradley( James) of Maryland; two sons Carl Ellis Choate ( Stephanie) of Ridgeway, S.C., and Gerald Edwin Choate of Covington, Ga; a longtime friend / caregiver Lyla Keyzer ( Kent ) of Brunswick, GA; six grandchildren, multiple great- grandchildren, and many other extended family members.
