

Ned was born October 25, 1924 in Dawsonville, GA. He graduated from Dawsonville County High School in 1943. During World War II Ned was an aviation cadet in training to fly in the US Army Air Corp, later performing duties repairing precision aircraft navigation equipment. It was there that he met the love of his life Mary, who worked in the same building but in a different department. Mary and Ned were married on January 1, 1944. After World War II ended, they moved to Brunswick where Ned soon established a thriving watch and clock repair business.
In 1990 Ned Cash Jewelers opened in downtown Brunswick and became known as “The Store with the Big Clock Out Front. Cash was a prominent businessman in the downtown Brunswick area for over 60 years, providing leadership in the business community. He was member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, American Legion Post 9, Brunswick Optimist Club, the downtown Brunswick Business Association, Brunswick Masonic Temple and many other civic and service organizations.
Ned and Mary were members of the First United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Ned was also a member of the Chancel Choir for many years.
Ned and Mary enjoyed dancing from the time that they met, first at dances in Mobile, presented to aid the war effort featuring stars such as Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Johnny Long and others. Ned and Mary danced away many evenings in the Club Rooms of the Sea Island Cloister and were charter members of the Shoreline Dance Club. Ned and Mary were members of The Antique Automobile Club and took many trips together in their 1940 Buick.
Ned Cash was well known in the Brunswick community for his generosity and kindness. He was recognized by friends everywhere he went and was always willing to help a person or organization in need. He was truly beloved by his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him. He quietly witnessed for his faith by example every day, showing his love of the Lord through his actions and through his relationships with others. Ned was a model for all of us of one who fulfilled his duties through steadfast patience and moderation.
Ned was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Mary Mitchell Cash. Their children include a daughter, Holly Cook of Indianapolis, Indiana and her husband Matthew, two sons, Ronald Cash of Spartanburg, South Carolina and his wife Kay, Larry Cash of Brunswick and his wife Sam, a daughter- in-law, Patricia Wells of Brunswick and her husband William, five grandchildren Holly Mignogna and Jaime Drawdy of Brunswick, Larry (Chip) Cash, Jr. of Cartersville, Georgia, Elizabeth Parrish of East Rutherford, New Jersey, and Michael Parrish of Savannah, Georgia. Additional survivors include eight great-grandchildren: Jessica, Logan, and Reagan Drawdy, Josie and Joseph Michael Mignogna, all of Brunswick, and Joshua, Jacob, and Elijah Cash of Cartersville.
Ned is predeceased by his parents, Noah Johnson Cash and Arrie Viola Hulsey Cash as well as brothers Gruver and Bertrum and sisters Myrtis Lee(Mutt) Hammontree and Rubie Ingram. Ned is also survived by many nieces and nephews including Nanci Hammontree Cash of Brunswick.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 9, 2013, from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 10 at First United Methodist Church of Brunswick at 11:00AM with the Reverend James McIlrath conducting the service.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church or Hospice of the Golden Isles.
