

Norman Edgar Reu, Jr. passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida after a brief illness. Norman was born in Brunswick, GA on July 6, 1964 and grew up on St. Simons Island, Georgia. He attended Frederica Academy on St. Simons Island graduating in 1982. While at Frederica he was an active member of the student body participating in many extra curricular activities and sports. Norman was a member of the Boys Scouts of America, troop 248 and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1978 followed by membership in the Order of the Arrow. Norman attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, graduating in 1986. While attending The University he became a member of the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity.
After college Norman moved to the Raleigh Durham area of North Carolina, settling in Chapel Hill, North Carolina where he lived for 10 years working at Raleigh News and Observer and Fitch’s Lumber Company. In 2002 Norman returned to St. Simons Island, Georgia, and until his death, Norman was a licensed general contractor and real estate agent active in the Glynn County area.
Norman is survived by: his parents, Norman and Clara Reu of St. Simons Island, Georgia, his sister Caroline Reu Rolader and her two sons, Richard Holcombe Rolader and Norman Alexander Rolader of Atlanta, Georgia, his Aunt, Elizabeth Reu Johnston of Conyers, GA, her three boys and their families, his Uncle and Aunt, Michael and Nancy Reu of Camden, SC their daughter and son and their families, his Aunt Mary Lou Wilkerson Landes and her daughter of California, and his Uncle and Aunt Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Murray and their family in Woodbine, Georgia.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of The Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick and St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville for their love and support shown to Norman during his recent illness.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 8th at 1 pm at the St Simons Island Presbyterian Church on Kings Way St. Simons Island with Rev. Bob Brearley and Dr. John
Law officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the charity of your choice in Norman’s name would be appreciated by the family.
